Q & A
Q: How far are the condos from the Airport?
A: Playa Turquesa is 15 minutes by taxi from Punta Cana
Q: Where do we pick up a taxi at the Airport?
A: As you come through customs in the arrivals hall, follow the
crowd round to the left through a walkway/hall,
where you will find numerous Tour Company Desks, and various
local taxi drivers shouting out for taxis ($35-$40)
We suggest a personal pick-up from the Airport to take you to
your accommodation (Cost $35) Not only does this ensure that you are not charged too much, but it helps me to be prompt and waiting for you at the condo as the driver will alert me how far away he is with you at all times
Depending on time of year/we can also arrange a grocery stop for you on the way to the condo at the larger, less expensive Jumbo Grocery Store, for the drivers wait time for you, this will cost an additional $10 USD
Q: Where can we pick up a Hire Car from?
A: There are several Hire Car Desks at the Airport. It is cheaper
for you to reserve online in your own country
prior to travel. Dont be surprised if they add on extra fees when you get here, or indeed have no car available especially over Holidays
Q: Do we need a Hire Car?
A: If you are staying in Playa Turquesa, or the neighbouring El
Cortecito/Los Corales area then no car is necessary.
Everything is within walking distance. And if you want to
venture further afield, there is a little local bus that stops
right outside. This bus will take you to Palma Real and San Juan Centers for just 35 pesos – so not even a buck
Q: The condos only include a set amount of Electricity in the
weekly rental price, what happens if we exceed this amount?
A: A meter reading will be taken on check-in and again on
check-out. If you exceed the stated amount, you will be required
to pay the excess at check-out. Electricity in Punta Cana is
expensive and costs just under $0.37 cents per KW.
Q: Can we drink the tap /faucet water?
A: Only Playa Turquesa has its tap/faucet water treated by a
Reverse Osmosis System. The water is safe for cooking and
brushing your teeth etc. All our condos come with water
coolers for your comfort/taste preference. Replacing the 5 gallon
bottles is approximately 85 pesos (less than $2) – and can be exchanged in the BAM Grocery Store onsite
Q: Can we swim in the pool at night?
A: No. It is illegal to use a pool between Dusk and Dawn. Pools
must not be used after 9 p.m.
Q: Is the Ocean cold?
A: The average temperature of the Ocean is 26 C. The beach at
Playa Turquesa is sheltered by a coral reef therefore
will never be too rough, making it perfect and safe for all ages.
Q: We are arriving early morning, can we get access to the condo?
A: For arriving guests we usually advise that the property will be
ready for check-in for 4 p.m., However, should you arrive
earlier and your property is not ready, you are welcome to
leave your luggage inside, and take yourself down to the beach
or pools. Although it is very rare that you will be kept
waiting for your property.
Q: We have a late night flight on our day of departure, can we
stay in the condo longer?
A: The condo should be vacated no longer than 10 a.m. However,
should you be on a late flight, your baggage can
be stored in a secure area. In the event that there are no
incoming guests arriving on your day of departure, you may be
allowed to stay in the property longer at our discretion.
Please note – we offer a very generous 14 hour work window for arrivals and departures
Check-ins and Check-outs will be during acceptable hours, between 8 am and 10 pm
Outside these hours you will be charged $50 USD each one unless delayed
Early morning check-outs require you to be picked up from the property a minimum of 2.5 hrs before flight time – so check you are within our acceptable hours policy
To be within acceptable hours on arrival, please allow/add an extra 2 hrs between landing, clearing immigration and arriving at the property by taxi
Q: What is the currency in Punta Cana?
A: Dominican Pesos. Although US Dollars and Euros are widely accepted.
Q: What is the Medical Care like in Punta Cana?
A: Medical Care is excellent. There are two options. Clinica
Punta Cana, is just before the Gas Station in Bavaro,
the other is Hospiten, in Veron on the way back to the Airport. Update, we also have a new International Hospital just opened which has the most up top date imaging equipment and excellent facilities/specialists. We now have a new International Hospital just a mile away, you would need to check if they are working with your insurance before going there
